it's a sign

Tiny Showcase has done a fabulous job of promoting emerging artists. The Kim Beury "silvercup" limited edition print of 100 seemed to have sold out immediately, which is a pity as I would have liked to get one.

The eco-chic road sign coasters, $70 /set of 4, are by Boris Bally and available from Elsewares. You must check out the serving tray too, also $70 from Elsewares. Both appeal to my love of things "pop" and fit in nicley with the earth friendly "re-use/reduce/recycle" mantra.

Finally, a digitally colored sketch of the pier 36 sign in San Francisco (by me). And if, like me, you have an odd fascination with signage, check out the artwork of Edward Ruscha and the photography of Walker Evans.

white now

White seems so refreshing right now. It might have something to do with my newly painted walls....green, brown and aqua. Also, I know minimal is out and decorative is in....but I'm having a tough time adjusting. Although since it has hit Target, Costco should have it in bulk by the time I finish this post.

Clockwise:
: ceramics by Ikuko Iwamoto
: hand cut "love" card, $4, by Zebula Design, $4
: white leather lariat necklace, $124, by Jester Swink, $124
: James Perse ballet tee, $147, available through Azalea
: Inhabit living wall tiles, $84 box of 10 tiles, available through Design Public

baby steps

Frog feet; too funny. Sushi shoes; too delicious. Polka dots; just too too cute.

These soft shoes are perfect for pre-walking babies, and probably the perfect newborn baby gift. I found these on Etsy and there were a grazillion different patterns to choose, and from designers the world over.

art seen : blame canada

Maybe it's the long winters, the public healthcare system or just being Canadian; but these fantastic works by Canadian artists Kenneth Lavallee and Sam Weber definitely show the artists dark side.

spring???

I'm slowly coming out of hibernation with the help of a little Californian sunshine. Ahhh, it's simply divine to be tapping away on my laptop, looking out a a sunny garden and listening to the sound of birds....and freight trucks.
